Dylan is here!

I am finally getting to this, things have been a little hectic around here.  Dylan is officially 1 month old.  At times it seems like it is going really fast and at other times it seems like it was so long ago when we were in the hospital.  When I think about how long I have left before I go back to work it is going by too fast. We are all doing well, Mommy and Daddy are a little tired but we have adjusted to only sleeping in 2 hour increments.

Dylan is a wonderful baby.  He is starting to get more fussy but that is to be expected.  He has kept us up a few nights but for the most part he sleeps really well. He has lost his little voice and seems to be a bit stuffy so we might be working on a little cold.  But he seems to be feeling fine otherwise.  He has been growing like crazy.  At 3 weeks he was up to 10lbs 5 oz.  Hopefully he'll slow down a bit, otherwise we'll have a 50lb 1 year old!  I might be a little biased but he could be the cutest baby in the whole world.

Dennis is back at work, he stayed home for two weeks.  Dylan sleep most of the day so I get to sleep in and take a nap most days to make up for the limited sleep we sometimes get at night.  We are heading back to to Algona for Christmas.  We leave this Saturday and coming back the 27th.  It will be a nice trip and it looks like Dylan will get to see a lot of family and friends while he is there.  The drive should be interesting.  We have the doggies coming as well.  Should be a wild ride.

Here are some pictures of Dylan at 1 month.  A friend of ours gave us this idea so we will be taking pictures beside this teddy bear to see how much he grows.

Hope you are all doing well and have a safe and happy holiday!

Update!

Hello Everyone,

He is not here yet, but I am being induced tomorrow night. I have had a pretty uneventful pregnancy until this last week. Last week Wednesday I woke up in the morning with terrible pain in my right side. I called the doctor and they asked me to go to Labor & Delivery to get checked out. They monitored me and baby, did an ultrasound, gave me some antibiotics for a minor infection and sent me home. They said the pain was probably a positional thing (baby pressing on something). I was having irregular contractions which I couldn't feel at all so they sent me on my way.

Yesterday, had my last scheduled OB appt. My blood pressure was high, I had a rapid weight gain and protein in my urine all major signs of preeclampsia so they sent me to Labor & Delivery for the second time in less than a week. Of course when I get there, all tests and my blood pressure were fine. Contractions again this time I can feel them but they are not regular yet. So I was sent home for the second time. Before we went to the hospital my doctor said they estimated during the ultrasound the baby is approximately 9 lbs (AAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!). This is approximate so he could be a little smaller (hopefully) but also could be a little bigger (let's hope for the former). So even if I wasn't delivering last night she wanted to start inducing me this week. So I go into the hospital tomorrow night at 6pm to start induction. Hopefully things go well and he will arrive sometime on Thursday!

It couldn't have worked out any better, my mom will be here to see her first grandchild come into the world. She should be arriving Wednesday night. Myself or Dennis will send out the announcement and pictures as soon as possible! I cannot wait until this little man arrives.

16 days

Hello Everyone,

16 days and counting them down! I had a dr. appt today. I was so anxious all day to find out if I was getting close. But I was extremely disappointed to learn that I am not even a little close. Nothing, nada, zero, zilch!

I am not one who likes to wait and am getting very impatient. But I guess at least I know that it doesn't look like it is going to happen anytime soon.

I will keep you posted!

3 Weeks to go!

Hello Everyone,

I am finally posting some pics of our floors. This is just before we moved everything back in. But I just haven't taken any since. Also, this is me about 2 1/2 weeks ago.

Three weeks until the due date! I am counting down the days. I am also very convinced that our little guy has been making preparations as well. He has dropped in the last two days. Which is good in some aspects, bad in others. I feel a bit more comfortable, easier to breathe, less heartburn. But his new pillow is my bladder so every time I stand up I feel like I might have an accident. Maybe I should get some Depends :)

We are getting ready for baby. We have had two showers recently. Dennis' work threw him a shower last week and Dennis' mom had a shower for us on Sunday. We are thrilled with all the gifts and can't wait to put them to good use! His room is set up and ready to go. I have started laundering all the clothes and blankets we will use right away.

We finished our classes at the hospital. We took a Prepared Childbirth class and also a Baby care class. Both were informative but I've read a lot of books over the course of this pregnancy so it was also repetitive as well. But I feel prepared now!
I am just getting so anxious for him to come I feel like I am trying to will him out of me. I don't think it will work but I try everyday! My luck, he will be arriving 1 week after his due date and they'll have to induce me :)

I will keep you all posted on my progress and send/post pictures as soon as our little turkey arrives. Hope you are all doing well and say a little prayer for our man to come soon!
Love,
Angie, Dennis and Baby

Finally!!!

Here are a few pictures of the babies room! We are far from complete, but furniture is there and things are making it into the drawers and all that. Pardon the mess on the dresser. Haven't decided where everything will go. Niblet was looking in the crib in this picture. I thought it was cute, soon he'll find something in there besides Peja!

7 weeks to go!

I think I might need to start counting down the days instead of weeks soon! I have finally been grounded at work, I took my last trip to Denver last week. Good to be home and know that I will be staying home. However, it has made me realize how much stuff we have to do before the baby arrives. Our house is still not put back together since the floors. we only have a spot in the garage for one car b/c the other side still has boxes and furniture. Oh well, we will get it done one day. Hopefully this weekend.

Things with baby are going well. He is a mover and a shaker. Whenver I am lying down or sitting around he starts jumping around like crazy. It is quite fun and doesn't hurt yet so I am enjoying all the movements. I had a dr. appt this week and things are going well and looking very good. I am starting to get a bit uncomfortable, especially at night. I know it is only going to get worse. I am not looking forward to it!

My friends threw a shower for me this weekend in Des Moines. It was very nice to see all of them and enjoyed catching up. They gave me such wonderful gifts I cannot wait to get everything organized and the baby here so he can use them! I can't wait to dress our little guy up in some of the outfits. So precious!

We have the furniture set up in the room now (sort of). Peja decided the crib was a nice place to take a nap today for the first time. Hopefully he doesn't make a habit of it, I kicked him out but couldn't resist a picture first.

Butters has decided over the last two days he is no longer potty trained so he is in trouble. He has had several accidents and we aren't quite sure why. He hurt his leg and was limping a bit, so he might just be upset from that. Hopefully it feels better soon and he remembers where the potty is (OUTSIDE).

We'll keep you posted on how things are going. I am very ready to meet our little guy and hopefully he comes soon but not too soon! Love-Angie, Dennis and baby....

9 weeks to go!

Hello Everyone,

Things are going well for us. The baby's furniture was finally delivered on Friday. Unfortunately Dennis left for a fishing trip on Saturday so it is hanging out in boxes. I have strict instructions to not open the boxes and attempt to put things together. It is very tempting though! I just can't wait for the room to start to look like a babies room.

It looks like there is only one more trip in my future for work and then they are going to ground me. I am home this week and next week will be going to Denver. There is a possibility I will travel the following week but it is unlikely.

I had a dr. appt today. They like you to have at least one appt with each of the doctors in the practice in case your own doctor isn't available when you go into labor, so I had my first one today. She was nice, she is who our friend's who are pregnant as well see so I wouldn't mind having her if I cannot have my own doctor. Baby is holding strong at 152, growth is good and I actually lost a pound. Completely normal, I think it was water weight, the last time I was in my ankles and feet were huge! I've been off a plane for a couple days so I think that helps.

No pictures this time but next time I promise! Dennis took the camera and we still haven't gotten everything in order yet in the house. Hopefully after my last trip we'll be able to focus on that and the baby's room.

Hope you are all doing well! Love~Angie, Dennis & Baby

12 weeks left!

Hello Everyone! I am becoming a terrible blogger but things have been too hectic with the house and work. Baby made it to Philly last week and had his first real Philly Cheesesteak. It was delicious. He also made the trek up the steps that Rocky Balboa ran up in the movie at the art museum. I was unable to run up those steps but I did a fast waddle ;)!

We have moved back into the house, THE FLOORS ARE DONE! They are beautiful and I love them! The doggies are adjusting to them. Butters is a klutz and slips all over the place but it is quite adorable to watch. We have to wait for at least 3 weeks to put rugs on them so that will help by giving them some traction. I am happy to be home but have been very busy trying to get things back together. Tonight was the first night that I had some down time for a very long time. I actually fell asleep watching TV and it was fabulous!

Had my 28 week dr appt today. Things are looking good, baby's heartbeat was strong at 155, doctor is a little worried about the swelling in my feet and ankles but my blood pressure is really good so she just said to watch it b/c it can be a sign of preclampsia. It doesn't help that it is summer and I am flying all over the country so we'll just have to see. It looks like I will stop traveling in mid-September. I think I'll have two more trips-Philly again next week and Denver the week of Sept. 14. Then I think I will be done. Baby is kicking up a storm and Dennis was finally able to feel the kicks.

We finished our baby registry. For those of you who are interested we are registered at Buy Buy Baby. It is a store here in Chicago but the registry is accessible at their website buybuybaby.com.
I will get some pics posted of the new floors. We are still in the process of getting things put into their place so once that is finished I will take some pics. My brother Matt and his fiance Cathy are coming this weekend. We will be going to a Cubs game on Saturday so that should be fun. We will probably do some other tourist attractions for them but aren't quite sure what those will be yet.
Hope everyone is doing great and we will keep you posted hopefully more frequently than once a month! Love-Angie, Dennis & Baby

24 weeks!

Hello Everyone,

Sorry it has been awhile since I have blogged. It is getting hectic at work again. Baby made a couple more trips, this time Florida and Georgia last week and back to Denver this week. I am feeling pretty good. I am trying to take advantage of this time where I feel good and have more energy. We had a doctor appointment on Monday. All is well, baby's heartbeat is solid at 152 which has been pretty consistent every appointment. He is such a mover and a shaker these days. The movements are still on the inside but getting stronger everyday. The doctor told Dennis that he should be able to feel him move pretty soon. Dennis is anxious for that day to come. I always let him know when he is moving but it isn't the same as being able to feel it.

We have completely moved out of our house and staying with Dennis' mom. She has graciously allowed Dennis and I with all three animals to come stay. The carpet has been removed and all the prep has been done, now we just have to get the contractors in to install the new hardwood floors. Dennis worked so hard on that and I feel bad that I couldn't be more useful (but also a little relieved that I didn't have to be on my hands and knees pulling staples for hours). Hopefully they will start next week and should take about a week to complete.

The animal babies are doing well. Butters is growing like a weed. We joke about who is growing faster, me or Butters! Peja got shaved for the first time yesterday. He did really well, unfortunately I did not get to see him as I had to get on an airplane. We hope it will help with his furballs and also shedding around Dennis' mom's house while we are there. Niblet is also doing well. He is being a very good guest at his Grandma's house.

Well, that is all for now. I hope you are all doing well. It looks like Dylan is winning the name race so far, we were partial to that name as well. But no decisions have been made for sure. We still call him the "turkey".

Love ya-Angie, Dennis and Turkey!

Nursery Furniture

We made our first big purchase yesterday for our little one. Nursery Furniture! I can't wait for it to come, 10 weeks hopefully! Things are otherwise going very well. I feel great, a little back and foot pain but I'm going to a chiropractor so that will help I think. I had a doctors appointment on Monday, everything with the ultrasound looked great and baby is exactly how he should be right now. I am a little sad b/c it was the last time I get to see the little one until the birth :(

The bulldogs are enjoying the summer, although the heat/humidity is a killer and they don't get much walking when it is like that out. It has been quite nice this past week so we have been taking advantage. We went for a walk this morning and they were pretty warm so when we got back they spent a little time in the puppy pool. Butters is going to enjoy his first fireworks show tomorrow. We are going to a 4th of July party, Niblet is going to his grandma's b/c two dogs to pay attention to in the backyard will be too much. Niblet went last year so it is Butters turn I guess. Poor Niblet.

We should have our floors by the end of the month and then we can really get moving on the nursery. Dennis has a fishing trip this month so that put a little snag in our scheduling.

Hope all is well with everyone and have a happy and safe 4th of July!

It's A BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Everyone!

Exciting news today, we had an ultrasound and found out we are having a baby boy! He was quite the little performer. He was moving around like crazy. He started off breach but by the end of the appointment was turned around. His heartbeat was strong at 156. After we saw the shot that showed us he was indeed a boy, he wanted to show "it" off for about two more minutes. It seemed like every shot was of his little one. Here are the pictures, one is a profile and the other I have circled to show he is a boy, since everyone who has seen this picture except for one has said they thought it was a girl. Pictures are not that wonderful since he was such a mover and shaker. We went right to Babies r us after the appointment and got him a couple of outfits. So adorable! We can now start planning for the nursery, register for baby gifts and I can have Dennis start painting!

Love,

Angie, Dennis and Baby Boy Scavnicar

17+ Weeks

Hello Everyone,

Things have been a little hectic around here with the addition of Butters to the family. He is such a good little boy. Niblet and him are getting along famously now, after the initial adjustment for Niblet. They smackdown several times a day and make all kinds of noise. They then crash and cuddle together for a little nap. Potty training is coming along, but we still have accidents on a daily basis. Zero fun!

Baby news-had a doctor appointment last week. Heartbeat was 152, doctor found it almost immediately so baby is getting stronger and bigger. My belly has started to pop out. I will post a picture soon. I have made the move to maternity for some of my clothes. Dennis got a little wide-eyed when I started shopping and kept asking how much I was spending. I sort of think this business of having to get a whole new wardrobe for 5-6 months of your life is pretty ridiculous. Oh well, what else can I do.

We have the appointment scheduled for the ultrasound to find out the gender. I am so anxious! I am also excited to see how much the baby has grown over the last few weeks! I will post the ultrasound pics and let you all know what we find out!

We bought our first item for baby: a Cubs onesie. It is so small and cute! I can't wait for him/her to wear it.

I hope everyone is doing well and having a great summer so far!

Love,
Angie, Dennis, Baby, Peja, Niblet, and BUTTERS!

15+ Weeks

Hello Everyone!

We have returned from our vacation to D.C. It was very fun, I really enjoyed seeing everything. We got to see most of the things that we wanted too. All of the walking really did a number to my back and feet so we skipped our last tour which was the Capital. I think we should have chosen a more relaxing vacation this year since I was pregnant but I still really enjoyed it. But we got home early so that was nice. I think my favorite was Mt. Vernon! Here are some pictures-Lincoln Memorial, Iwo Jima Memorial, and Mt. Vernon. When we went to the National Archives, Alex Trebek was filming in the Rotunda (place where the orginal Declaration and Constitution are kept). We got to see him pretty close, but there were so many people and so we didn't get pictures or to talk to him. We drove up to Baltimore for a day, walked around the harbor and had Maryland Crabcakes. I was not so much a fan, but Dennis really enjoyed them.

I have been feeling pretty good besides my back. We did some planting next to our patio seating wall today and my back is killing me tonight! But it usually feels okay in the morning.
Baby has now been to a few more states-Indiana, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Maryland. The drive was fine, I didn't even have to stop all that often. Niblet was really good for Dennis' mom. Our new little man comes to us on FRIDAY! As luck would have it, the breeders are going to a wedding in Indiana this weekend and are going to drop him off on their way through. Much better than having to drive to Iowa. Here is a picture of him, he has really grown and I can't wait to see him in about 5 days! I just love this picture with his little tongue!
Well I will sign off for now, hope you are all doing well and have a great Memorial Day weekend. Love-Dennis, Angie, and Baby...

14 Weeks-Starting 2nd Trimester

Hello Everyone,

Nothing new to really report this week. I did not have a doctor's appointment so no pictures or cool stuff to report. I did celebrate my first mother's day, although I am not sure if that is legal. We had Dennis' family over on Sunday, we grilled and the kids fished in our pond.

For those guessing about the gender of the baby, I have mostly been calling "Baby" a "he" and had previously always had dreams that the baby was a boy. But the last week or so I have had three dreams and the baby is a girl. I even called it a "her" today. My friend Finn (who is pregnant as well) had a dream last night that I had a girl. So we shall see. Right now the vote is 3 to 1 for a girl, if you haven't voted the poll is on the top left of this page. I don't think I have mentioned but Dennis and I do plan on finding out if the baby is a boy or girl. I don't have the appointment scheduled just yet, but probably mid-late June we will have the ultrasound.

I'm feeling a lot better, no vomiting in over a week! WHOOHOOO! I know you all wanted to know about that. I have noticed some round ligament pain the past couple days, especially today, which is essentially my tummy stretching out to make room for baby. I don't really have a "bump" yet but my pants or getting tighter and tighter. Might be time to go and check out a maternity store soon.

We leave for D.C. on Saturday so my next blog will probably have some vacation stories and pictures in it. Niblet is staying with Dennis' mom, hopefully he isn't too much of a handful for her. Butters (our puppy) is coming home in three weeks! I can't wait, I'll probably regret saying that when I am cleaning up the umteenth pee puddle!

I hope you are all doing well and all you mothers had a wonderful and relaxing Mother's Day.

Love, Angie, Dennis, and Baby S.

12 Weeks

Hello Everyone! Hope you are all doing well. I had my 12 week appt today. We got to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time, it was going a million miles an hour. I have only gained 1 1/2 lbs so far. I haven't been feeling well and all that really sounds good are breads and other carbs and of course desserts of all shapes and sizes so needless to say, I was afraid of the scale. Dennis got to attend this one, but we were a little sad we didn't get another ultrasound. Doctor asked if we had any questions, I have about a million but my pregnant brain went blank, so I started a notes page on my cell phone full of questions so I won't forget next time. We did a little landscaping to the front of the house and seeded our lawn over the weekend. Here is part of the project, we did a mini version of this around our mailbox and still need to do it around a tree that has some hostas planted around it. Picture is a little lopsided now that I have looked at it, but oh well.

We also got some new pictures of our little bully. Our breeder was actually robbed of a litter of puppies but thankfully our bully is safe and sound. Not much else is really new, just enjoying the weather. I hope it is hear to stay! Hope everyone is doing great!

11 Weeks

So let's scratch what I said on my last post about feeling good most of the time. Sunday was a doozie, I felt like I had drank a bottle of tequila (not that I have ever done that before) but I imagine that that is how I would feel the next day. I haven't had to run out of any meetings or training sessions at work, which is good. Baby Scavnicar has already been to Georgia, Colorado, Iowa, and Ohio. Quite the little traveler I would say. We will also be braving a road trip to D.C. in May which should be a very interesting car ride since I have to frequent the restroom on an almost hourly basis. Dennis will probably get a little bit annoyed and refuse me any type of beverage for the 10 hour car ride! I am very excited to see D.C. since I have not been there before. Should be fun!

We are also going to be adding a new puppy to the family at the end of May. I don't know what I am exactly thinking, I might have gone a little nutso, wanting to chase a little puppy around but I feel like I would rather get a puppy before the baby is here, not after. Here is a little picture of our new little boy. He is very young so I'm sure he'll be lots different when we get him.
We are also going to be doing some home renovations before the baby comes. We are going to have hardwood floors installed throughout the house, so that will be very nice. We already have them in the kitchen/dining room so I am very excited to get rid of our carpet!
I hope you all are doing well.

SUPRISE!

Hi Everyone,
I am stealing Amy and Nick's idea b/c I thought it was such a good way to communicate throughout the pregnancy! Yes, officially, we are having a baby! A few of you have known for a little while, but I am officially coming out of the pregnancy closet! My mother has gotten to okay to tell people, so I'm sure half of Algona knows by now (kidding mom:)I am currently about 10 weeks along, so still pretty early. I had my first ultrasound on Monday. Poor Dennis missed out b/c of the Cubs opener (although I think he was miserable, cold/rainy) but at least they won! For those who will ask, no, we were not planning this, but we welcome our little "surprise"! I am feeling okay, there are bouts of nausea and the part that comes with it, but all in all I can't complain too much. I am very hungry, especially in the morning, it is ridiculous! Baby Scavnicar is due on November 11th. So we are calling "him" our little turkey, although right now, looks like a peanut! Hopefully I will be a good little blogger and keep up with this, so check back on our baby progress. Love-Angie, Dennis, & Baby
